More than 40 years ago, the Pyomar-Guadaiza Group first became aware of the potential of this area after learning of the vision of José Banús to transform this coastal village into a destination to rival the French Côte d’Azur. The firm began to build on its own land close to the beachfront of Puerto Banús in conjunction with the architect M. Àngel Asenjo, with the project taking shape in various phases over the next twenty years.
Not only is this a spectacular, strategic location, it also holds a hidden gem within – the garden, a 30,000m2 green ‘lung’ in the centre of the resort, together with three swimming pools, two private ‘chiringuitos’ and direct access to the beach. This fabulous space has in the past been awarded prestigious gardening prizes such as First Prize for Costa del Sol Gardening and First Prize for Garden Maintenance by the Andalusian Government’s Department for the Environment.
In keeping with the desire to build in harmony with the surrounding area, the design and construction materials were carefully chosen to complement the local environment – with Mediterranean-style architecture blending seamlessly into the seaside setting.
In recent years, the Glow Wellness & Fitness spa and gym has added to the desirability of the community. It is a 2,500m2 complex that offers almost every kind of fitness class and spa treatment you can think of, plus a few more you haven’t heard of yet!
The group has since built other complexes including Las Gaviotas III – IV and Residential Albatros in the area, however it is Playas del Duque, which remains the most famous of its creations.
